OBJECT: SEISMIC ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT

TYPOLOGY: STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

Analysis and design of reinforcements for seismic improvement of mixed masonry and concrete structure. Following a careful investigation campaign consisting of historical-critical analysis, geometric survey, material survey and in situ testing, the geometry of the building was defined and modeled. 

Global analyses with combination of CQC effects; local checks on masonry males (in-plane and out-of-plane pressures, shear) and on concrete columns and walls (bending and shear); facade overturning (kinematic analysis, a0 multiplier). Seismic risk indicators ζE were inferred.

The proposed improvement measures are: for masonry (reinforced plaster and carbon fiber reinforcement), and for floor rehabilitation (wood, girders, and floorboards). The team consisting of the client and designers chose reinforced plaster and wood floors, evaluating cost-effectiveness, durability, aesthetic value and performance.
